Frequently asked Questions
I am under 18, can I get involved with WALKTALK?
If you are under 18, you are welcome (with parental consent) to join the walk as it comes through your town at the official points. We recommend that all
walkers register online.
Who is WALKTALK open to?
It is open to everyone; we will welcome all people who wish to engage with others, particularly those whose views and opinions may differ to your own. Join as a group, a company or simply as an individual.
What’s going on in my town?
Each town along the route will have a local coordinating team. We can put you in touch with your local coordinator to find out what’s going on locally. And if you have an idea for an event or activity in your town, we would love to hear that too. Check out the WALKTALK website for more information near you.
Will food and accommodation be provided?
We advise you to bring your own small refreshments such as snacks and water. Depending on weather, please ensure that you bring suitable shoes for walking and clothes, suncream to protect should it be needed.
Can I walk the entire route?
We are not encouraging people to walk the entire route as there are not enough facilities nor the logistics to cater for large groups of people. We are encouraging walkers to join the route at the official points as it passes through towns along the route, this can be as little or as many as you like depending upon your circumstances.
Is this a one off or annual event?
Currently, this is a one off event in the UK although we hope that WALKTALK will act as a catalyst to help promote other community cohesion related activities going forward. If you want to develop an official WALKTALK event then email us.
Can I turn up on the day?
Yes you can turn up on the day, but we strongly encourage you to pre-register. Please see the Support page for more information.
Can I bring my wheel chair?
Yes you can bring your wheel chair. Please check the web site for updates on the route in your area - we will do our best to ensure that the path is accessible for wheelchair users.
What are you providing for the walkers?
WALKTALK will be registering you as a walker and information on what WALKTALK is all about. All refreshments, personal items need to be brought by yourselves.
How old do I have to be to walk?
Our event is open to people of all ages. However we ask that all walkers under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.
