About WALKTALK

WALKTALK is an ambitious and challenging initiative offering a wide variety of people of all ages – representing a broad spectrum of opinions and ideas – new opportunities to meet, walk and talk with each other about matters of belief and conscience, especially those that are most challenging and divisive.

WALKTALK began on 19th July 2008, in Millennium Square, Leeds and finished in Trafalgar Square, central London one month and over 250 miles later.

A core key team of WALKTALKERS including Gill Hicks MBE, Joe Kerr, Zulfi Hussain MBE and the team at Together for Peace covered about 10 miles each day, spanning one month in total.

They were warmly greeted and given wonderful hospitality in the towns and cities through which they walked; were shown projects or opened events fostering and promoting community cohesion; and were joined by people of all ages who WALKTALKED with them for an hour or two, or more, so creating a chain of human connections between Leeds and London.
