Welcome to WALKTALK for Africa
WALKTALK is a bold and challenging nationwide initiative which aims to bring together people who may otherwise never meet, never talk and, almost certainly, never walk side-by-side.
WALKTALK for Africa follows on from the WALKTALK initiative of 2008 conceived by Gill Hicks a survivor of the 7th of July 2005 London bombings who lost both her legs that day, and her husband Joe Kerr and developed with Zulfi Hussain of Global Promise and together for Peace, Leeds. The team of walktalker's travelled from Leeds to London over one month giving an opportunity to bring communities together and to discuss openly yet mutuallly in areas which they may not agree.
This year Jacqui Hogan, Tina Hardy, Carlton McFarlane and Jayne Tattersall who were all inspired by the original concept, have come together with Zulfi Hussain MBE to follow in the footsteps of WALKTALK by walking over 200 miles from Leeds to London from the 9th until the 25th of August 2009 to raise funds for communities in Af rica.
WALKTALK with us – for a mile or more - as we pass through your town.
We welcome all support – even if it’s just a friendly word as we pass by.
WALKTALK is strictly non-political and non-partisan.
